Divine Feminine

The Divine Feminine Images are rooted in my earliest memories of time spent with my paternal grandmother, Leonarda Cariglia Pagano.  As a young girl I was captivated by my grandmother’s engaging devotion and prayers at her bedside shrine, which is now hanging in my studio.  And there were the visits to St. Anne’s Church in the Italian neighborhood in Worcester, MA where we would sit quietly together. 

My grandmother’s whispers as she recited her rosary were the only sounds in the lofty space. The fond memories of sitting with my grandmother, wrapped in the smell of incense and burning candles, surrounded by Divine images are reflected in my work.
